Owning a Primescan or Omnicam is great, but the proprietary file format often locks you into the Sirona ecosystem. If you want to design in Exocad, print on a Formlabs/SprintRay, or send cases to a non-Sirona lab, you need open STL files. Supported Formats
- Sirona Connect: Cases sent directly through the Connect Case Center.
- Proprietary Files: .dxd (Diagnosis), .rst (Restoration), .cmg, .3si.
- Legacy Files: Older Bluecam/Redcam file versions.
Output Options
- STL (Standard): High-resolution geometry mesh. Perfect for milling or Exocad design.
- PLY (Color): Contains both geometry and color texture. Essential for marking margins or identifying gum tissue clearly.
- Clean-up: Optional mesh repair (hole filling) included.
How It Works (2 Methods)
Method A: Sirona Connect Portal (Recommended)
- Log in to your Sirona Connect account.
- Search for “China Dental Labo” (or use our email: chinadentaldesigns@gmail.com) and add us as a Partner Lab.
- Send the case through the portal. We receive the raw data, convert it, and email you the STL back.
Method B: Manual File Transfer
- Export the case as a “.dxd” file from your CEREC unit.
- Upload the file to Google Drive / WeTransfer.
- Email the link to chinadentaldesigns@gmail.com.
- We convert and return the STL.

- Is this legal?
Yes. We hold valid licenses that allow us to receive and export Sirona cases. You are outsourcing the “model creation” step to us. - Why do I need PLY instead of STL?
If you are drawing margins, the color texture in PLY files helps you distinguish the prep finish line from the gingiva much better than monochrome STL.
