Stop Struggling with Bands and Wires.
Traditional space maintainers require fitting stock bands, taking impressions, and messy soldering. It’s traumatic for the child and time-consuming for the lab. China Dental Labo offers Digital Space Maintainer Design. We design the appliance digitally to be 3D printed in Cobalt-Chrome (SLM). The result is a one-piece, unbreakable appliance that fits perfectly.
Technical Engineering Specifications
We leverage digital precision to solve the common problems of rocking bands and tissue impingement:
Design Features
- Anatomic Band Fit: Unlike stock bands (round/oval), our digital bands follow the exact contour of the tooth anatomy for maximum retention.
- Cement Retention: We design a specialized internal mesh pattern or retention tags inside the band to lock the cement mechanically.
- Tissue Relief: The loop is designed 1.0mm off the soft tissue to prevent gingival hyperplasia or food impaction.
Clinical Applications
- Band & Loop: For unilateral loss of a primary molar.
- Distal Shoe: For guiding the eruption of the first permanent molar (subgingival extension).
- Lingual Arch / Nance: For bilateral space maintenance (holding arch).
Why SLM (Selective Laser Melting)?
Printing your space maintainers in metal changes the game:
- Strength: A one-piece printed structure has no solder joints (weak points) to break.
- Speed: No manual wire bending. Just design and print.
- Hygiene: The profile is smoother and less bulky than traditional wires, making it easier for the child to clean.
Seamless Digital Workflow
- Scan: Upload Intraoral Scans (Upper/Lower). *Capture the distal of the tooth anterior to the space.*
- Prescribe: Select the type (e.g., “Band & Loop on #K”).
- Design: We deliver the STL file overnight.
- Print: Send the file to your SLM Metal Printer (or outsource the printing to a metal center).
Don’t Have a Metal Printer?
We can design the file for you to print a resin model, then you can bend wire on the model traditionally. But we highly recommend the digital workflow.
