Verify Fits & Contacts Without Pouring Stone.
Transitioning to a model-less workflow is great, but sometimes you need a physical model to check proximal contacts, occlusion, or ceramic layering. China Dental Labo offers a Digital Model Design Service that turns your intraoral scans into production-ready STL files. We handle the “Virtual Ditching” and parameter settings so you just hit “Print”.
Technical Engineering Specifications
The biggest challenge in 3D printed models is the friction fit of the removable dies. We customize our design parameters to match your specific printer brand:
Die & Ditching
- Virtual Ditching: We carefully identify the margin line and “ditch” the die virtually, exposing the margin clearly for your ceramist to check the crown fit.
- Friction Fit (Offset): We set the die-to-model gap (e.g., 0.05mm) to ensure the die seats fully with a satisfying “click” and doesn’t wobble.
- Geller Models: For anterior aesthetics, we design alveolar models with removable soft tissue to verify emergence profiles.
Base & Articulation
- Hollow Base: Models are hollowed (2mm wall) with internal lattice support to save resin and prevent warping during curing.
- Articulator Ready: We can add standard articulator attachments (Baumann, Vertex) or print a simple “Verticulator” hinge for checking bite.
Seamless Digital Workflow
- Scan: Upload Intraoral Scans (Upper/Lower/Bite).
- Prescribe: Tell us your printer model (e.g., “SprintRay Pro 95”) and model type (Sectioned vs. Solid).
- Design: We deliver the STL files overnight.
- Print: Print using standard Model Resin (Peach/Grey/Sand).

Frequently Asked Questions
- What files do I get?
You receive separate STL files for the Base, the Dies, and the Opposing arch. - Can you design Plateless models?
Yes, we can design models that snap into generic articulator bases to save printing material.
